Through Instagram, I've become immersed in a plethora of fashion, home, and lifestyle inspiration and have learned just how pervasive hijabi fashion is across the globe. Last year, photographer Langston Hues set out to capture and to document the growing international trend of "hijabistas" in a soon to be published book called Modest Street Fashion. Modest Street Style will be filled with collections of photographs that commermorate modest street style and feature Muslim women from all over the world.
Hues has captured the likes of Winnie Detwa, Imaan Ali, the Jay sisters, Dina Tokio, and many more. From the start of photographing for Modest Street Style, Hues has been sharing beautiful photos featuring a gamut of street style on Instagram. Last October, Hues came to Chicago and photographed several fashion enthusiasts including my friend Ayesha and myself. The richness of our city's architecture and parks made for a beautiful backdrop in the photoshoot. Hues recently shared a photo from the shoot in Chicago of myself and I love how well it turned out. During the shoot I felt stiff, but here I look poised.
Modest Street Style will be similar to Scott Schumann's The Sartorialist: Closer and will be published this coming Spring/Summer.
Follow Langston Hues on Instagram and Twitter for more pictures of Modest Street Fashion. I can hardly wait till the day the fashion tome is released.
